Turning a Vehicle Around

1. There are three ways to reverse direction – U-turns – Two-point turns – Three-point turns

2. U-turn – Stop as close to the right side of the road as possible. – Look both ways before you even begin to turn the steering wheel and start the turn.

3. U-turn – Let everyone around you know what you’re going to do. Use your left-turn signal to indicate what you’re planning – Turn the wheel as quickly as possible and as sharply as necessary, and complete the turn.

4.  U-turn – Before pulling out make sure to look over your shoulder and check for oncoming traffic.

5. A right side two-point turn – Requires you to stop the car, back it into a road or driveway on the right side of the highway, and drive out onto the highway and make your turn.

6 . A right side two-point turn  – Signal your intention to stop the car – Before you move backward, check to make sure that the path behind you is clear – Before re-entering the traffic again, make sure you can do so safely.

7. A left side road turnThe left-hand turn requires the driver to drive nose-first into a road or driveway on the left side of the road, then back onto the highway, straighten out, and drive off.

8. A left side road turnSignal your intention to stop, as well as your intention to make a left-hand turn onto the side road or driveway – The most dangerous moment in this turn is when you are backing into oncoming traffic – Watch out for this oncoming flow and make sure all is clear in front of you before moving out into the traffic.

9. The three-point turn should be made only where there is no other choice – First pull over and get as close to the right side of the road as possible – Turn your car as though you were going to do a U-turn.

10. Just before the front wheels of your car reach the far side of the road, turn the steering wheel to the right, check ahead and behind for oncoming traffic, put the car in reverse, and back up across both lanes – Remember: Whenever the car is moving backwards, you should be looking the same way. – Just before reaching the other side of the road, turn the wheel to the left.
