The simple fact is that Electronic Stability Control has made cars safer. A National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) study showed that ESC reduced all single-vehicle crashes by 34 percent and single-vehicle SUV crashes by 59 percent. A  University of Michigan study found that ESC could reduce the odds of fatal rollovers in SUVs by 73 percent and in cars by 40 percent.
